🌟 Celebrating Carol: A Shining Star in Our Nursing Team

From the outset, Carol demonstrated a deep commitment to professional development. Not only has she completed all the training required by the practice, but she has also proactively pursued additional qualifications in areas such as Contraception and Menopause. This extra training means that patients who see Carol often receive comprehensive care in a single appointment, saving them time and reducing the need to consult multiple clinicians.
Carol’s passion for patient care was especially evident when our practice had the opportunity to take part in a pioneering project to support housebound patients. We were proud to be the only practice in the North East of England to take on this initiative, and Carol was the first to volunteer.
🏡 Supporting Housebound Patients: A Unique Initiative
This project involved our Practice Nurses visiting housebound patients in their own homes during their spare time—providing services that District Nursing Teams often don’t have the capacity to deliver. These visits included:
- Completing outstanding blood tests and annual reviews for chronic conditions
- Administering immunisations
- Recording details of carers, social workers, and health visitors
- Offering information on support services such as housing, benefits, and social contact
- Providing bespoke information packs tailored to each patient’s health needs
Thanks to Carol and the team’s efforts, every housebound patient has now received at least one visit, with many benefiting from follow-ups. This initiative has made a real difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable patients, and we are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved.
💪 A Nurse Who Never Stops Giving
Carol’s dedication doesn’t stop at her scheduled hours. Whenever an opportunity arises to upskill—even if it’s outside her usual remit or on a day she’s not working—Carol is always willing to step in. Her motivation is simple: to do what’s best for our patients and support the practice in any way she can.
As her manager, I believe Carol’s contributions deserve to be recognised and celebrated. She is a credit to herself and to our practice, and we are truly lucky to have her.
