Why did you decide to become a Community Champion?

My involvement in community work as a Parent Governor in two local schools, as well as a Public Governor at a local Ambulance Services has helped shape the strategic direction and help raise standards of their services. This has influenced my decision to become a community champion as I would like to further share knowledge among other peers. I believe in teamwork and champion diversity. ‘It’s in your hands to make a better world for all who live in it’ said Nelson Mandela

How does your role help people in South Tees?

As a social entrepreneur, visionary leader, and a people’s advocate, I have a passion for fairness, gender equality, women’s empowerment, and race equality.

Through Save The Woman, I provide free assistance to a diverse group of people.  More recently, the advocacy and legal support has been around children being taken into care. The cases can be lengthy, and it is difficult to find legal representatives willing to invest the time in people who cannot pay. It can also be a traumatic time for families.
